Illustrative: the kind of work we deliver across our four services. Sample data, not a client system.

Why TanWeru

Efficient, secure, future-ready systems for the public sector and enterprise.

We are a Kenyan team that builds technology institutions can rely on: secure by default, designed around how you actually work, and delivered in the open.

01

Security first

Sensitive data is protected by design: least-privilege access, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logs, and practices aligned with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

02

Built to scale

Fast, resilient systems that hold up on everyday phones and patchy networks today, and grow with demand without a rebuild.

03

Tailored, not templated

Every organisation works differently. We fit the system to your mandate, workflows and existing tools instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all product.

04

Collaborative delivery

We work alongside your internal teams with written scopes, demonstrable milestones and full handover, so decisions are on record and nothing is a black box.

Services

Four disciplines. One accountable team.

From the first workshop to the support desk, the same people who scope your system build it and keep it running.

01

Software and web development

Citizen and customer portals, internal systems and mobile-first web apps, built to stay fast on everyday phones and patchy connections.

  • Web and mobile applications
  • APIs and system integration
  • Payments and messaging integrations (e.g. M-Pesa Daraja)
  • Accessible, mobile-first front ends
02

AI and automation

Practical automation for the paperwork that slows teams down: document intake, triage, approvals and reporting, with people kept in the loop.

  • Document processing and extraction
  • Workflow and approval automation
  • LLM assistants grounded in your own data
  • Human review and audit trails
03

IT consulting and digital transformation

Independent advice on what to build, buy or retire, then a phased plan your team and budget can actually carry.

  • Technology assessments and roadmaps
  • Cloud and legacy migration planning
  • Procurement and vendor support
  • Process redesign before automation
04

Data and analytics

Dashboards and data pipelines that turn scattered spreadsheets and systems into figures leaders can trust and act on.

  • Data pipelines and warehousing
  • Dashboards and performance reporting
  • Data governance and quality
  • Reporting automation

Who we serve

Two kinds of client. The same standard of work.

Public institutions and private organisations need different things from a technology partner. We are set up for both.

For government

National and county institutions

Ministries, county governments, state agencies and public bodies that need dependable digital services and a supplier that fits procurement.

What you get

  • Citizen-facing services that work on any phone
  • Faster processing with automated document checks
  • Compliance with the Data Protection Act built in
  • Transparent milestones, reporting and handover

How we engage: Tenders and RFPs, framework call-offs, or as a specialist partner within a consortium.

For enterprise

Private organisations

Banks, SACCOs, insurers, health providers, agribusiness, NGOs and growing companies that need technology to move faster and cost less to run.

What you get

  • Faster time to market for new products and channels
  • Integrations with M-Pesa, ERPs, CRMs and core systems
  • Automation that removes manual, repetitive work
  • Reliable support with agreed response times

How we engage: Fixed-scope projects, time-and-materials for evolving work, or a support retainer after launch.

How we work

A delivery process that stands up to scrutiny.

Every engagement follows the same four stages, with written outputs at each one, so progress is visible and decisions are on record.

  1. 01

    Discover

We start with your mandate, users and constraints: budget lines, timelines, existing systems and compliance obligations. You get a written scope, not a slide deck.

  2. 02

    Design

Architecture, data flows and interface prototypes are agreed before code is written, so stakeholders sign off on something concrete.

  3. 03

    Build

Delivery in short, demonstrable milestones with tested releases, documentation and regular progress reports you can share upwards.

  4. 04

    Support

Handover, training and an agreed support window after launch, with clear response times and a path to grow the system over time.

Sectors

Built for the institutions that keep Kenya running.

We focus on sectors where reliability, accountability and data protection matter as much as features.

  • 01

    Government and public sector

Service portals, case and permit management, revenue systems and inter-agency data sharing for national and county institutions.

  • 02

    Finance

Onboarding, reconciliation and reporting tools for banks, SACCOs, insurers and fintechs, built with audit trails from day one.

  • 03

    Health

Booking and records workflows, facility reporting and analytics, designed around the sensitivity of health data.

  • 04

    Agriculture

Farmer registration, input and extension tracking, market data and mobile tools that work where connectivity is thin.

  • 05

    Enterprise

Internal platforms, process automation and analytics for growing organisations replacing spreadsheets and disconnected tools.

Where we operate

Based in Nairobi. Working across Kenya and beyond.

Close enough for in-person workshops and site visits, with remote delivery for everything else.

  1. Base

    Nairobi

Our team is based in Nairobi, for in-person workshops, discovery and delivery.

  2. Coverage

    Across Kenya

Ready to work with national institutions, any of the 47 counties and private organisations nationwide: on site when it matters, remote the rest of the time.

  3. Remote delivery

    Regional and international

Remote delivery for clients across East Africa and beyond, with working hours that overlap Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Compliance and trust

Where we stand, stated plainly.

TanWeru is a newly formed company. Here is the honest status of every document procurement teams ask for, updated as each one is issued.

  • Company registration

Registration with the Business Registration Service (eCitizen) is in process. Certificate details will be published here once issued.

    Application submitted
  • KRA PIN and tax compliance

KRA PIN follows company registration. A tax compliance certificate will be supplied with every bid once issued.

    In progress
  • Data Protection Act, 2019

We design and build to the Act's principles today. Formal registration with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner will follow company registration.

    In progress
  • AGPO (youth) registration

Access to Government Procurement Opportunities registration, applied for once company registration and KRA PIN are issued.

    Planned
  • ICT Authority supplier accreditation

Accreditation with the ICT Authority for government ICT work, applied for once the prerequisites are in place.
